Dr. Olesya Turkina is a critic, curator of numerous exhibitions, including Russian Pavilion at the 48th Venice Biennial, project “MIR: Made in the XX century” (1999) and Senior Research Fellow in Contemporary Art Department at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
Since 1991 she is co-editor of Kabinet journal (dedicated to contemporary art, philosophy and psychoanalysis). She has written and edited a number of studies on contemporary art including books and articles in various art magazines such as Moscow Art Magazine, Paradoxa (London), Cultural Studies, Kabinet (St.Petersurg) and catalogues (Europe, Kunst. Hannover, 1991; Manifesta 2, 1998; After the Wall, Stokcholm, 1999; Manifesta 3, 2000, Berlin Москва. Moskau Берлин. Kunst. 1950-2000. Martin-Gropius-Bau. 2003). Since 2003 she is editor of the unique on-line Newsletter regularly covering important events of contemporary Russian art http://www.newsletter.net.ru Since 1999 she is member of the Russian Space Federation. For several years she is working on the series of films “The Chain of Flowers” with The Museum of Jurassic Technology (Los Angeles).
